The piece is roughly rectangular in shape, though with one edge expanding in a curve, and consists of two metal sheets riveted together. Both sheets have been cut to the same shape. though one has lost about a third compared to the other. The sheets are connected by two rolled copper-alloy sheet rivets; this would have been three when the borken sheet was complete. Post Medieval copper alloy double-looped oval buckle with an iron pin and separate strap-plate. The loops form one continuous oval outer frame and the outer sides of the loops are slightly widened. The outer edge is rounded and the inner edge and back flat and plain. The integral strap bar is plain. The iron pin is highly corroded but remains in situ. The prominent collar is rounded in section. The foot is also D shaped in section with five very worn moulded ribs running down the front and a flat back. The base of the foot is rounded. A fragment of a cast copper alloy strap fitting for a sword belt, dating to the Post-Medieval period. The fragment consists of the lower part of a shield-shaped plate with concaved sides and a rounded base with the stub of a hook projecting from the centre. The front face of the plate is decorated with a symmetrical foliage design in moulded relief. The design vaguely resembles leaves of the vine. The reverse is plain and undecorated. A cast lead-alloy cap from a post-medieval powder measure (c. 17th century). It has slightly flaring sides from open base to closed top, at one point now squashed inwards, with 40% of the side missing. The top is sub-circular with an irregular hole through it removing c.10%. Where the sides meet the top there are two attachment loops, one on each side, both squashed down slightly towards the sides. A seam is prominent on the side. The cascabel at the breech (closed end) of the cannon is almost flat, just slightly convex with a button projecting from it; the button has a long circular sectioned stalk ending in a slightly flattened sub-spherical head. A large number (100) have a weight of 11g +/- 1.5g, with a second main group (31) around 32g +/- 1.5g. This suggests a predominant use of pistol shot, with a notable presence of musket shot according to the main calibre divisions (Foard and Morris 2012, 121). The bowl of a post-medieval clay tobacco pipe broken at its junction with the stem. The bowl is swollen, convex curved between the mouth and heel on both sides and projects out over the heel. The mouth is parallel to the stem. The sub-oval flat heel projects only a little from the base of the bowl and is wider and longer than the base, starting level with the stem. This large heel is stamped with the maker's mark, in this case the incuse letters GEO / WEBB / IN / CHARD within a stamped pellet border. A slightly damaged late medieval/early post-medieval copper-alloy button. This is a cast one-piece example of biconvex form with an integral looped shank. The button is plain. It has corroded to a red/brown colour with patches of light-green corrosion product. The shank has been abraded through and slightly bent as a result of old damage. Similar examples can be found illustrated in Read (2005, 51-52).
