A corroded and abraded cast lead object - probably a Roman steelyard weight. The object is broadly circular in plan with a large, corroded iron loop (L.: 23.3mm) off centre on its upper surface. The weight tapers to a broadly oval base (33.2 by 25.7mm); the sides taper to the short ends, while the long sides have been squashed. The base is flat enough for the weight to stand. The surface is now a light-grey/white colour with numerous scratches, dents and areas of cracking. Given its current mass it is unclear how this weight fits into the Roman weight-system.

The olive is an elongated oval terminal of circular cross-section, c. 24.6mm long, up to 4.7mm in diameter. The shaft continues circular in cross-section, bent round and back on itself; the terminal bent slightly to one side, all presumably as an element of old damage. The patina is mid/dark-green where it has not been corroded. The piece is comparable to two such probes illustrated in Bishop (1996, 39; refs. 211, 212).

An incomplete Late Iron Age to Early Roman copper-alloy Langton Down type brooch (AD 25-60). The pin, spring mechanism and the lower part of the bow, including the catch-plate, are missing. The brooch is generally T-shaped in plan and has wings which are semi-cylindrical and open at the rear. In plan, the bow narrows from the wings towards the break at the bottom. Adjacent to the wings, the bow has a width of c. 15.0mm and the width at the break is 6.2mm. The front of the bow is stepped horizontally and the rear face is flat and plain.
