Small gold appliqué decorated with curvilinear filigree wire. The plaque comprises a thin piece of sheet gold forming an extended rectangle in two decorative 'halves', with each of the shortest sides cut to form a 'V' shape. There is a small circular perforation at each corner, as well as an additional perforation below one of the corner perforations; other holes appear to be wear and tear. Description A complete post-Medieval gold finger ring. The ring has a hexagonal bezel, set with a finely faceted garnet which projects from the bezel; convex in profile. Each lateral face of the bezel is decorated with a rectangular facet, with a lower border in slight relief, with a central upwards pointed projection. A slightly worn 1st-century BC gold Iron Age quarter stater of the Early Uninscribed 'O' - 'Geometric' type (c. 80-60 BC; Hobbs 414ff.; VA 1225). This is a common variant of the standard O type: see, for example HAMP-D07677, CCI-96155, CCI-941047, CCI-930961, CCI-930502 on this database. The pale colour of the metal suggests this may be a contemporary copy in a silver-gold mix.
