A copper alloy silver plated contemporary copy of a halfcrown of Charles I (AD 1625-1649) dating to AD 1634 to 1649. The coin has a thin sheet of silver over the top onto which the dies were stamped. One face of the silver has been almost worn smooth while the other bears the trace of an round, garnished, royal shield. Due to the condition of the coin a closer date cannot be determined.

A Post Medieval contemporary copy of a silver half crown of Charles II (AD1660 - 1685) dating to AD 1679. London Mint. Spink (2002: 311) no. 3367.
Another metal is showing through in places as the enriched silver surface is coming off and the bust is distinctly 'blurry'.

Object type: COIN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Dorset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An extremely worn, broken and bent, probably irregular late 17th-century copper-alloy halfpenny of William III, first issue, London mint, dated '1795' AD (cf. Spink 3554).
Around a quarter of the original flan survives after ragged old breaks. This may have been broken deliberately after it was discovered to be a fake. Suggestive features are an incorrect die axis measurement, an unbarred 'A' on the reverse and an unclear date which appears to read '1795'.
