Object type: CLOTH SEAL
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Hampshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A worn and incomplete cast lead cloth (alnage) seal of post-medieval date. Only one of the possible pair (or more) of discs survives. In low relief it is inscribed with the following lettering: '4 (inverted)? II//I M'. The other surface is plain. The angular sides of the seal suggest that it may have been cut deliberately.

Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: East Sussex
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A cast lead-alloy circular uni-faced token with three visible casting spruces at the cardinal points. The token has a raised design of the initial 'E' on one side, the other side is blank. It is 21.20mm in diameter, 1.85 mm thick and weighs 4.8 grams. Lead tokens were locally made and had a wide variety of uses; they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are thought to be Post Medieval in date, 1500-1850 AD.

Post Medieval cast lead alloy circular uni-faced token, 1500-1850 AD. Lead tokens were locally made and had a wide variety of uses; they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initals are thought to be Post Medieval in date. Post Medieval cast lead-alloy uni-face circular token, 1500-1850 AD. The token has the raised initials TP on one side. The reverse appears to have a raised pellet towards one edge but this could possibly be a casting flaw. The token measures 18.2 mm in diameter, 1.9 mm thick, and weighs 3.84 grams. Lead tokens were locally made and had a wide variety of uses; they are therefore hard to date precisely but those with initials are thought to be Post Medieval in date.

Object type: TOKEN
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: East Sussex

Cast lead circular unifaced token. The obverse of the token is decorated with the raised initials G over GF or GE. The reverse is blank. The token is 24.8mm in diameter, 2.33mm thick and weighs 6.84 grams. Tokens with simple designs were very easy to make, had a range of uses and continued in use for a long period. The arrangement of initials in this format was common in 17th century for married couples, the upper initial indicated the surname and the lower initials the husband and wives first names, suggesting this token dates to that time.

Object type: TOY
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A probable lead alloy fragment of a Post Medieval to Modern toy gun. The object is triangular in plan with curving sides and a flattened point. The point end is closed but the opposite end is open and was probably attached to the wooden section of the toy gun. Both faces have moulded decoration showing what appears to be leaves and/or flowers within a border of raised lines. There is a lobed knop projecting down from one of the sides. It is likely to be the butt from a toy gun. It measures 52.4mm in length, 26.7mm in width, 11.8mm in thickness and weighs 30.4g.

A Post-Medieval (c.1690-1715) apparently copper-alloy-covered lead-alloy spoon with a diamond shaped or 'dognose' terminal and oval bowl. It measures 190mm long, 45mm wide and 15mm in depth (the latter two measurements being at the bowl). The dognose terminal is plain and 26mm wide with rounded edges. The stem of the spoon is flat with chamfered edges, forming a sub-rectangular profile. It tapers to a rat-tail support on the back of the bowl which stretches for just under half the bowl's length. On the back of the stem, just below the terminal, is a probable Maker's mark comprising…
