A corroded but complete cast lead button of post-medieval date (Th. without loop: c. 9.1mm). The button is domed, with a flat back with central, integral iron loop of circular cross-section; no casting seam is visible. The upper surface bears patterning moulded in low relief, consisting of lines and circles around a central cross, but with obvious symmetry. Read (2005, 57ff.) dates such buttons to the 16th century.

Post Medieval cast lead button with integral shank which is now broken. The button is circular with a slight projection at one edge producing a 'drop' shape. It has a slightly concave back and conical front, producing a broadly triangular cross section. The conical front is decorated with three raised concentric rings around a central pellet with thinner raised lines radiating out from the centre to the edge. An incomplete lead post medieval button dating to the period c. AD1600 - 1700. About half of the button and its shank are missing. The button is circular in shape with a flat back and convex front, which is decorated with cross and a large pellet in each quadrant, these abutting an outer border, all moulded in high relief. A row of pellets runs down each arm of the cross, with a final larger pellet on the border at the arm's terminal. Each pellet is seperated from the next by a fine raise line.
