A worn and corroded small cast lead weight in the shape of a frustum, or truncated cone. It is broadly trapezoidal in cross-section, with a flat base. It has a hole running right through its centre; the hole tapers slightly towards the top which has been flattened slightly at an angle: Dia.: 8.3 - 7.0mm. The artefact now has an off-white surface with denting all over, especially to the base. Such objects are undiagnostic and a wide date range is here given.

Cast lead piece, probably a plain weight.. It is conical with a circular base, tapering sides and an irregular, broken top. There are numerous cuts and indents in the side. It is 49.8mm tall, 23.3mm in diameter at the base; it weighs 96 grams. Plain lead weights were made locally for a wide range of uses. They are therefore hard to date accurately and can be Roman - Post Medieval in date although most are from the latter part of this range.

There are numerous cuts and indents on the base and sides. It is 51.7mm long, 36.8mm wide, 17.5mm thick and weighs 179 grams. Plain lead weights were made locally for a wide range of uses. A corroded lead weight, or possible spindle whorl, of uncertain date. The object is roughly spherical, with flattened top and bottom and with a slight carination around the centre. It has a circular hole running through the centre. It is 21.7mm in diameter, 15.8mm tall with a hole 5.0mm in diameter at the base and slightly splaying open at the top; it weighs 27.72 grams. Plain spindle whorls and weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards and are hard to date precisely although most are late medieval/post medieval.

A corroded cast lead object - possibly a 'homemade' Roman weight. The object is broadly teardrop shaped with a rounded end. It tapers towards the other end which features a crude transverse groove, possibly for suspension. One surface is domed while the other is flat; the object has a semicircular cross-section. The surface is now a light-grey/white colour with numerous scratches and dents. This object's current mass bears no clear relationship to the Roman weight-system, but was found in the vicinity of Roman steelyard weights.

It is 23.8mm in diametre, 6.6mm in thicknes and weighs 27.82g. 0.98 ounces. Plain weights were cast locally in lead from the Roman period onwards for a wide variety of uses and are hard to date precisely. This example is about an ounce in the avoirdupois system in use since the Medieval period suggesting a late Medieval - Post Medieval date.

A flat circular lead weight of uncertain date, possibly Post Medieval. There is evidence of a fold across the centre and a tear in the edge at one end of the fold. There is a small square hole through the weight, slightly off ceentre. There appears to be a scratched design on both sides of the weight but this is obscured by the large number of indents, probably from damage, on both faces. The scratched designs maybe of a square on one face and lines radiating out from the hole on the other. It is now 30.8mm by 28.3mm, 3.3mm thick and it weighs 15.80grams.

The other end has a ragged break, possibly as result of mis-casting, which extends beyond the break. A prominent median rib, semi-circular in cross-section, runs down the length of the leg. The plain object is a dusty light-green colour overlying a red-brown metal, with large areas of off-white corrosion product.

Cast lead vessel repair (pot mend). Oval with two irregularly shaped outer sides joined by a smaller central section. In the groove created between the outer sides there are traces of the original pot. The pottery appears to be of sandy dark orange fabric. It is 36.8 mm by 32.6mm, 10.2 mm thick and weighs 48.07 g. Pot mends of this form are found in both Roman and Medieval periods, as a common way to repair broken pottery. The remains of the original pot seem to be Roman in date although it is too fragmentary to be completely certain.

Two sherds of Roman greyware, a base sherd and a rim sherd. Both sherds have a medium grey-brown fabric with abundant, c. 30% fine sand temper. The base fragment has only a small part of the base on it but shows the convex wall rises from the flat base at about sixty degrees. The rim fragment has an everted rim, possibly from a jar, with a slightly widened and flattened top ending in a slightly rounded outer edge. It is too short and irregular to estimate the original diameter (L.: 57.1mm). They weigh 28.08 grams together.

A cast copper alloy leg from a Medieval to Post Medieval vessel. The leg appears trapezoid shaped in cross section with a flat front and rounded back. The leg terminates in an outward facing foot. The front of the leg has a raised central rib running down the lengh. It measures 86.1mm in length, 52.9mm in width and 25.0mm in thickness. Butler, Green and Payne (2009, pg 4) do not record an example identical to this but it is perhaps most similar to their Type 'a' which was widespread in the Medieval period with examples known into the early 17th century.

A cast copper alloy pot leg and foot fragment. 45.1mm long, 30.7mm wide, 21.4mm thick and weighs 101 grams. The fragment is heavily worn but appears to be angled at about 60 degrees. The back is plain. The front has two vertical grooves creating a slightly tri-bobed appearence; just below the top is a raised horizontal band with a semi-circular profile. The top is smooth with slight grooves rather than broken and has a central raised, rough section that may have held a rivet. There appears to be traces of sooting on the foot, this, and its size, suggests it may come from a cooking vessel.

The exterior is decorated with white slip interrupted by four turned parallel lines at the top and indented ovals with dignal scratches across them below. Twenty sherds of Roman Poole-Wareham Black Burnished ware (BB1), 100-410 AD, sixteen body sherds and four rim sherds. The sherds mostly have dark inner and outer surfaces and a slightly lighter inner core; some have re-oxdised to shades from mid-orange to mid-grey from later burning others appear lighter as the darker surface has been lost. A few, mostly the rims, still have traces of burnishing but most are highly abraded with the original surface worn away. The fabric is fairly coarse, with the distinctive cods-roe fracture. At one end the piece comes to a point, at the other it ends in an old break, 4.9mm across. There is an indent in the centre of one side next to the break, this may be deliberate or damage. A slightly corroded and bent post-medieval lead-alloy toy watch. The object is circular and bifacially moulded in low relief. Within a wide border is a symmetrical design of four lozenges between stylised flowerheads and ring-and-dot motifs. The sides of the lozenges are concave. The inner part of the border design touches the chapter ring which is marked with the Roman hours I-XII with pellet half-hour marks. The plain dial centre is enclosed within another pellet border.
