The pedestal is faceted with six facets and thins as it rises before it widens slightly to a collar topped by a rounded terminal. The matrix would have read: [S' I]Oh'IS FIL WALT[ERI] This means it was the Seal of John, Son of Walter. There appears to have been a star or similar in the centre of the matrix and moulded ribs on the reverse. The suspension loop is missing along with the upper part of the matrix.
