A silver crockard (continental imitation of an English long-cross penny) of John II of Avesnes, minted at Valenciennes. This coin is classified as Mayhew nos. 28 or 29 (1983: 39), due to the uncertainty of form of the letter 'N' on the obverse. Mayhew suggests a date of 1280. The coin's surfaces are worn. It measures 19.3mm in diameter, 0.3mm thick and weighs 1.2g.
