A cast copper-alloy artefact of medieval date: probably the terminal fragment from a tumbrel, or coin balance (c. 14th century AD). The arm is perpendicular to the rectangular terminal (tray) and has broken at the perforation that would have taken the axis bar. The arm is bent backwards and is broken at both ends of the perforation (L.: 8.8mm, W.: 4.7mm, Th.: 3.2mm). The tray is rectangular, thin and flat, apart from a moulding just below the loop.
