A cast lead token of Medieval date.
The circular token is of thin section but survives intact. On one side, executed in low relief, is the image of a hooded figure standing right, the right hand holding a pole with a mesh bag at the upper end. A swag extends diagonally across the body, while the top of his legs - the area below the knee is not visible - are covered with a vertically segmented garment. A medieval to post-medieval cast lead-alloy circular unifaced token of Powell type 21 (c. AD 1250-1800). The token has a raised design of a wheel with eight spokes running from the centre to meet a circular line.
Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely and could be Medieval or Post Medieval in date.

A lead token of Post-Medieval date. Weight 57.01g (0.1257pounds or 2.0110 ounces), diameter 33.21mm, thickness 7.61mm. The upper surface of the artefact is decorated with a raised symbol, possibly two letters joined together which could be CH or more likely HD. It seems that the symbol was a HD, where the vertical of the 'D' was also the right-hand vertical of the 'H' however it must be noted that the lower part of the letters, if this is what they are, have been worn or scraped away leaving just a faint mark visible today.
