Fragment of Medieval (1250-1350) copper alloy buckle frame of Meols Type 11, consisting of the outside ‘roller’ edge and a short part of the adjoining frame at either end.
The outer edge is really all that remains with the narrow pointed terminals being all that is left of the frame. Egan and Pritchard (1991) illustrate a similar frame, (p. 72-3 ref. 293), and Whitehead (2003) p.9 no.11.
A similarly broken buckle has been recorded on the database as WILT-4D30F2.
