A collection of 64 pieces of lead shot, probably dating to c. AD 1600-1700. 21 shot are probably in the pistol category (red), 20 in the carbine (green), and 21 in the combined arquebus/carbine/small musket and large musket group (blue) with some not clearly in a group (groups as defined by Harding 2012). A total of 233 pieces of lead ball shot, brought in for recording in batches of 125, 91 and 17 respectively, but here amalgamated as from the same findspot. A large number (100) have a weight of 11g +/- 1.5g, with a second main group (31) around 32g +/- 1.5g. This suggests a predominant use of pistol shot, with a notable presence of musket shot according to the main calibre divisions (Foard and Morris 2012, 121). If Hardings (2012) wider brackets are used there are 120 of 7-16 grams interpreted as pistol and 43 of 30-48 grams. Equally notable is an absence of much shot of intermediate…
