A roman ceramic body sherd with handle, probably a jar or pitcher of black burnished ware, dating to AD 43-410. The sherd has a medium hard fired, fabric, that is a dark grey colour at its core with a medium orange inner surface and a layer of orange under the black surface on the outer side. It has common fine sand temper and large chalk (up to 3mm) and and patinated grey stone inclusions (up to c.1.5mm). Part of the body and the base of the handle of a large Medieval glazed pitcher dating to the 12th century. The piece has a high fired buff to pale orange fabric with remains of olive green glaze on the outside. The applied rod handle is circular in cross section, flattened and squeezed towards the base with a thumb impression, now partly missing. Three body sherds that refit to become one fragment of a Medieval cooking pot dating to c. AD 1150 to 1350. The sherds are both highly abraded and have been reburnt giving them a hard brittle feel. Each of the sherds are predominantly reddish orange in colour with one large surface being a burnt blackish brown colour from burning. Each sherd has common rounded ironstone and patinated chert inclusions up to 2mm and 2.5mm respecively. When refitted the fragments total length is 38.6mm, while their total width is 28.6mm. their maximum thickness is 7.4mm while they weigh a total of 8.64 g

A base fragment of a greyware ceramic vessel dating to the Roman period (c. AD 43 - 410). The base is almost flat, with wear marks and more recent scratches on the underside. There is very little of the vessel's body that remains adhered to the base, but there is enough to suggest an open profile vessel form, too little survives to estimate the diameter. The fragment is a blue-grey in colour, with brownish patina. The hard fired fabric is non-micaceous with abundant very fine sand temper and occasional rounded iron stone inclusions. A Roman ceramic rim sherd from a Black Burnished Ware (BB1, from Wareham/Poole Harbour, Dorset) vessel, probably a bowl, probably dating to c. AD 44-150. A hard fired dark grey/black fabric with an abundant sub-angular quartz temper, burnished on both the internal and external surface. It is from a simple open-mouthed vessel with a beaded rim and no decoration. The sherd measures 28.67mm in length, 20.45mm in width and weighs 5.01g. A similar example can be found in Seager Smith and Davies (1993) form 13, dated to between the first century and the early second century AD.

Body sherd from a small cup, bowl or jar with almost vertical sides. The fabric is mid orange with some fine quartz temper. The exterior is decorated with white slip interrupted by four turned parallel lines at the top and indented ovals with dignal scratches across them below. A yellow glaze over all appears brown on the inside and areas where the slip has been removed. This form of decoration is typical of South Somerset ware of the late 17th to 19th centurys altough the scratched ovals are slightly unusual.
