An incomplete copper-alloy strap-end of Medieval date. The piece represents the projecting end from a socketed strap-end. It is of thin section, flat on the underside, and takes the form of three equal-sized discs, arranged in an inverted-sub-triangular formation. The surface of each of these discs is concave and has been incised with a number of parallel, angled grooves, probably designed to catch the light. Medieval cast copper alloy object in the form of a scallop shell. It is semi-circular and flat, with four grooves radiating out on the upper surface to represent the divisions of the shell. The reverse of the mount has a damaged and incomplete projecting arm extending at a right angle from the flat edge of the scallop. It is 22.58mm long, 26.65mm wide, 2.85mm thick. The arm has a rectangular cross section, measuring 6.80mm by 5.97mm. The mount weighs 10.5 g.
