Roman copper alloy figurine depicting the god Mars. The figurine shows a standing male with an helmet and short tunic. He has got a crest projecting out of the helmet c.1.4 mm in high and c.2.68mm in width. The crest runs along the centre across the top from his forehead and down the back of the helmet ending just before the neck, the crest is very worn and originally more prominent. The whole head measures 19.33 mm in length. Its face has got two indented circular eyes which may have held enamel or glass beads. The lower jaw and mouth area project slightly forward. An incomplete Roman copper alloy bracelet dating to cAD 300 to 400. The bracelet is formed of a strip of copper alloy which has been bent into an irregular U-shape. One end is complete and narrows to catch and the other finishes in a straight, patinated break. The catch is formed of a hook; the hook is narrower than the main bracelet with a thin initial section then a thickened terminal which is round in plan and triangular in profile with the upper edge of the triangle slightly hooked over. A fragment of a Roman copper alloy brooch. Only the foot and catchplate remain. The bow thins and narrows evenly to the pointed foot. Close to the break in the bow is a small circular indentation and the foot is slightly thickened although vary narrow, with two transverse notches. The catchplate is complete with a circular hole drilled through the centre. The piece measures 29.0mm, 5.75mm in width, 3.95mm in thickness and weighs 3.63g. An incomplete Roman copper alloy initial T-shaped brooch probably dating to cAD 50-150. Only the lower part of the bow and catchplate remain. The top section of the remaining bow has a pattern of four evenly spaced converging incised lines which run down the bow to the start of the foot where there end in a double transverse incised line. The bow tapers further to four incised transverse lines just above the raised knop at the foot. An incomplete Roman cast copper alloy Colchester Derivative Dolphin or possibly Polden Hill type brooch, c.43-100 AD, with spring mechanism and probably a rearward facing hook, now missing. The head was formed of two C-sectioned wings creating a continuous half cylinder, these are now 17.9mm wide and very worn. The tips are bent backwards suggesting slight end caps although probably not large enough for a Polden Hills type attachment method. The tops are corroded and any decoration unclear. An incomplete Roman copper alloy developed T-shaped hinged brooch probably dating to AD75 - 150. Only the wings and upper part of the bow remain. The wings are chipped at each end but nearly complete and have a pattern across the front of a single incised diagonal line about halfway along and a pair of incised lines at the end. The broken ends are filled with white cement to hold the hinge bar. There is a slot through the centre of the back of the head in which the pin would have hinged. A copper alloy fragment of a Roman Aesica brooch, dating to c. AD. 60-90. This fragment consists of the upper section of the high arched bow, wings and part of the crest. At the head of the bow are the wings that are semi-circular in cross-section and have a diameter of 3.9mm and a width of 21.1mm. The circular end caps are broken and the spring and the central bar it was wound around are missing as is the pin.
