Medieval (late 13th to 15th centuries) composite strap end: The strap end is a sub-rectangle in plan with one end being rounded and the other having a scalloped edge. The strap end is made up of two copper alloy sheets both of each are decorated with an inscised design. One face has a standing figure, holding a vertical staff or long sword. The central decorative element from a circular enamelled brooch of late 10th to 11th century date (Saunderton type). The circular component is divided into a scrolling cruciform pattern with separate cells of red, blue and white glass made using a cloisonne technique set into a backing plate with integral raised sides. The rest of the brooch, catchplate and pin are missing. The brooch may have been gilded but there is no trace of gilding on this fragment.

A squashed but complete cast copper-alloy signet ring of probable post-medieval date (c. 16/17th century AD). The bezel takes the form of an elongated hexagon with a flat upper surface (L.: 16.3mm, W.: 9.1mm). Engraved within it is the bust of a lion in profile looking right, with delineated mane and tongue sticking out, on a plain field. An incomplete medieval silver penny of Edward I (1272-1307). Class 9b2 (North 1037/1) dating to 1300. Mint of Durham. North (1991, 30). The coin measures 18.4mm in diameter, is 1.0mm thick and weighs 1.27g. It has suffered some signficant losses at different points of its circumference. The letter S on the reverse is distinctive and not easily associated with Class 9b; it may be that this is a mule with a Class 10ab reverse. However, the reverse is too worn to be certain about this.

A fragment from a Roman copper-alloy finger-ring consisting of the bezel and shoulders. The bezel is circular with an engraved border on its upper surface. It may have been recessed to take enamel, which is now heavily decayed. The shoulders of the hoop emerge from the reverse of the bezel. The hoop has a flat rectangular cross-section. The shoulders are both truncated, one below the bezel, the other not far beyond. The hoop has a shallow curve in profile. A fragment from a copper-alloy spoon probably of Roman date. The fragment is broken at both ends: diagonally across the bowl and at the point at which what appears to be an unusual junction element connects the bowl and handle. The bowl, being highly truncated, is of indeterminate form, but has a rounded oval back where it connects to the junction element. A complete cast copper alloy stirrup-strap mount, dating from the late early-medieval period (11th century). The mount can be described as Williams (1997) Class A, no Type. Sub-pentagonal in form, the mount has an engraved surface, mostly confined to the upper half of the mount and consisting of swirls and diagonal and horizontal lines. The identification of the design is uncertain although it bears similarities to Williams (1997) Figs 20 and 28, and also Type 15. The apex of the mount is finished with a pendant lobe while the flange is set at a right angle on the reverse.
