A Medieval to Post Medieval biface lead token, dating to AD 1500-1600. Powell, type 10 (heads and bust) and Powell type 14 (heads and bust) on the other. The token is circular in plan. The inverse shows a raised head of an individual facing left wearing a hat, the outer edge of the token is decorated with a pellet border. The token has a raised cross, which is central and does not reach the outer edge, within each quarter of the cross is a raised pellet and the edge has a pellet border. A cast copper-alloy two-piece strap fitting consisting of a bar mount and a suspension loop dating to c. AD 1350 to1400. The bar mount consists of a rectangular plate from which a narrow rectangular strip projects from the bottom and is bent toward the back surface terminating in a lozenge-shaped end, which has a circular rivet in its centre. The fragment consists of a single loop oval frame with a pointed centre to the outer edge where the pin would have rested, the loop thickens where it meets the spacer where the plate is abutted, an attached fragment of the forked spacer which is flat tapers away from the bar with a distinct step half way, the opening between the forks is a sub-triangular. The object has one central rib running vertically down its length the cross section is triangular, the back is flat and the front is convex. The leg rose from the foot at an angle of 70 degrees. Reference: Butler et al type 4a, who suggest they are widespread in the medieval period but also up into the 17th century. Date: Medieval to Post Medieval. Length: 40.9mm. Width: 37.2mm.
