Incomplete copper alloy trumpet brooch. Pin missing. Behind the head is a large thin loop which projects longitudinally to house the missing coiled pin . The back of the head is oval and hollowed. Roman cast copper alloy oval plate brooch. The brooch has a slightly raised lip around the outer edge of the plate and a large raised oval cell in the centre. The outer lip does not appear to be deep enough to have once contained enamel. The central cell however probably held a glass inset. Traces of the material used to hold the insert in place is visible around the edge of the inner oval. There are possible traces of stamped design around the outer oval. A cast copper alloy Anglo-Saxon saucer brooch, dating from the mid 5th to mid 6th centuries AD. The brooch is incomplete, missing some of the rim, the pin and part of the catch plate. The brooch has traces of gilding on the front with a raised design of a central circle surrounded by five running spirals or scrolled tendrils.
