A copper alloy damaged handle escutcheon from a Medieval or Post Medieval chafing dish, dating from about AD 1400 - 1600. The lug is 28.8mm long, 17.1mm wide and 7.1mm thick. It is a flat plate of metal which is uniformly 7.1mm thick. It is a sub-circular fitting with a sub-circular hole in it which has broken making it look like a hook. From one end projects a sub-triangular element which would have probably butted up against the vessel. An incomplete medieval copper alloy clasp, probably from a folding strap clasp for a belt, or possibly a book fitting. The object consists of a flat sheet of metal folded in half at the midpoint, with the fold creating a circular effect in cross section. The two sides remain folded close together, although they flare slightly away from one another at the now open end. This was once held closed by two circular rivets which survive, but are no longer holding the clasp together. The object is broadly rectangular and has a square zoomorphic terminal with rounded edges and corners that is sub-rectangular in cross section. This terminal is worn but has the remains of raised brow ridges with an indented channel between and raised circular nostrils at the lower corners. An incomplete Roman copper alloy finger ring of Henig Type VIII/Guiraud (1989), Type 2f dating to c. AD 175 - 300. The ring is very fragmented, the majority of the surviving part being made up of its bezel and one shoulder. The bezel is oval in shape measuring 13.6mm by 11.6mm and contains a second oval section that is raised 1.5mm. A medieval lead papal bulla of Pope Boniface IX (AD 1389-1404). The object is sub-circular, with small truncations at the top and bottom at the points at which the cord would have travelled through a slot runnig edge to edge. One face bears the inscription: BOnI/FATIUS: / PP:VIIII in three lines, within a pelleted border. The 'PP' stands for 'Pastor Pastorum', translated as 'shepherd of the shepherds'. Two flint cores of probable Mesolithc to Neolithic date (c. 6000 - 3500 BC). 1. The core exhibits at least four striking platforms and exhibits at least 13 negative flake scars from previous blade and flake removal. The flint is a dark semi-translucent grey colour, with some cloudy repatination and iron staining. It measures 31.81mm in length, 38.86mm in width, is 24.91mm thick and weighs 42.46g. 2. The object is shaped as a square topped shield with convex sides meeting at a point at the base, and is flat in cross section. A copper alloy pommel from a sword or dagger in the shape of a human bust dating to the later Iron Age (150-1 BC). The bust is moulded in three dimensions, with the lower edge of the shoulder line demarcated by an incised groove which runs around both sides of the object.
