It tapers gradually from a width of 10.8mm at the attachment end to 7.0mm towards the terminal, beyond which the sides curve to a (now abraded) rounded terminal. At the opposite end there is an off-centre tab; the tab on the other side has been lost. This is a pair of rivet holes at the frame end with a third hole central at the terminal. A broken copper-alloy sheet plate from a medieval strap-fitting, probably a buckle plate. The fragmentary plate is rectangular and features a pair of rivet holes at the attachment end; it has broken at a further hole at the centre of the sheet. The attachment end has been bent, then down at its terminal. The corners are slightly abraded and rounded at the attachment end; one of the perforations has a crack between it and the side. Corrosion has robbed us of any decoration, if indeed it existed; the artefact is now a variable mid-green colour with patches of lighter corrosion product.

A broken copper-alloy sheet plate from a medieval strap-fitting, possibly a buckle plate. The fragmentary plate is sub-rectangular, ragged at both short ends following old breaks. There is perforation near the centre of the extant sheet. One end has been bent upwards. On one surface are stamped lozengiform punches, representing a central pellet within a linear border, all within a ropework border. They are arranged in four corners of a square, two aligned with the perforation, two at one of the breaks; there is a possible fifth at the centre of the group. The artefact is now a variabl…

A medieval copper-alloy strap-fitting, possibly a strap-plate or strap-end, consisting of a rectangular sheet folded over on itself. There is a central circular perforation on both halves; above and below are smaller rivet holes. The sides of the object has been damaged in the past. The artefact now has a variable mid-green patina with some areas of lighter corrosion product. For similar see Egan and Pritchard (1991, 225; fig. 141) and Margeson (1993, 39; fig. 22). Such objects tend to have been found in 14th-century contexts.

A corroded fragment from a cast copper-alloy hooked mount of post-medieval date. The fragment consists of the lower part of the mount, including the hook and the lower part below a rivet hole. Within this lower rivet hole corroded remains of an iron rivet. The sides of the mount are scalloped with rounded protrusions to the sides. The inward-turning hook has been bent slightly to one side as a result of old damage. The metal has corroded to a red-brown colour with larges areas of light-green and off-white corrosion product.

A broken fragment from an uncertain artefact consisting of a cast copper-alloy loop from the side of which emerges a sleeve containing an iron shank. The loop is broadly of oval form with a flattened end opposite the shank. It features a broadly oval perforation measuring 8.1 by 6.5mm. The sleeve is off centre and split as a result of old damage and corrosion to the iron shank. The corroded iron extends no further than the longest fragment of sleeve. The copper-alloy is a variable green colour with some areas of surface surviving between quite corroded lighter areas. The construc…
