An incomplete copper alloy Roman developed T-shaped brooch dating to the period c.AD75 - 150. The pin, lower part of the bow, the foot and the catchplate are missing. The head had cylindrical wings, one of which is now missng to an old break. The remaining wing appears to have an incised line around the outer end. The wings are separated on the reverse by a central pin slot from which the pin is missing. The copper alloy axis bar for the pin is visible in the broken wing. About half the length is square-section (maximum 6mm across) and fairly even in width, the other half is rounded and narows gradually and terminates to a point. there is no obvious waist where the two sections join. 82mm long and weighs 9.4 grams. Plain copper alloy awls are hard to date precisely and this lacks the characteristic central thickening of some Bronze Age examples. Most of the bowl is missing but the heel is stamped with the makers mark: WILL/ PITCH/ER in three lines within a pellet circle. The stem is broken at an old break. The pipe measures 51.3mm in length, 14.7 in width and weighs 6.37g. William Pitcher is listed as a maker from Beaminster in Dorset active c.1700 (Oswald 1975 p167). The core exhibits at least four striking platforms and exhibits at least 13 negative flake scars from previous blade and flake removal. The flint is a dark semi-translucent grey colour, with some cloudy repatination and iron staining. It measures 31.81mm in length, 38.86mm in width, is 24.91mm thick and weighs 42.46g. 2. An incomplete Roman copper-alloy double dolphin brooch (c. AD 150-c. 250). The pin is largely missing. These stylised dolphins are parallel and are joined together at the tails and about mid-way along the bodies. The dolphin's heads abut a horizontal bar which has a pair of pin lugs at the rear. The lugs contain a copper-alloy axis bar and the loop of an iron pin. Behind the tails an elongated stub is the remains of a catch-plate. In side profile the brooch is 'S'-shaped. An incomplete post medieval lead toy probably a whistle dating to the period c. AD 1600 - 1800. The toy commences in an old break and is cylindrical with a hollow circular cross sectioned interior and a hexagonal external cross-section. The internal diameter of the toy is 9.07mm tapering to 3.88mm at the opposite end. The toy exhibits a series of irregular raised mouldings running down the sides of the body, probably a decorative pattern which is now unclear, there appears to be curved foliate designs near the break. A post-medieval cast copper alloy crotal bell complete with iron suspension ring and hook. The bell is divided into two hemispheres by a prominent ridge which runs around the centre of the bell. The upper hemisphere is undecorated with two large sound holes. It is 25.0mm along the curved top, one side is 26.3mm long, the other is 19.6mm long. An incomplete Roman copper alloy bracelet. The bracelet is formed of a curved strip of metal which is even in width and thickness throughout its surviving length, (29.5mm long by 8.3mm wide). An incomplete cast copper-alloy zoomorphic Roman plate brooch in the form of a fish. The losses are confined to the back on which the catchplate is abraded and the pin mostly lost.
