A probable cast copper-alloy element from a knife of medieval to post-medieval date. The object is convex, sub-rectangular in plan and sub-trapezoidal in profile. The corners are truncated and slightly rounded. The highest surface features a slot in the shape of a rectangle with rounded corners (9.65 x 4.3mm). Although reminiscent of early-medieval pommels in shape the object shows no obvious means of attachment and seems therefore unlikely as a terminal.
