The foot and lower part of the bow of a copper-alloy Roman bow brooch (c. AD 100-200). The bow, 7.0mm in width at the top and 5.8mm in width at the bottom, has a flat back and front with the sides shaped into two steps creating a broad central raised strip on the front flanked on each side by two narrower steps running down the length of the bow. The central strip is decorated with incised lines; groups of multiple parallel lines starting from one side of the strip indicate roughly triangular shapes which alternate with triangles formed of lines starting from the opposite side. A complete medieval copper-alloy circular seal matrix, dating to the period 1200-1400. It depicts the head of a stag facing forward within a circular punched border, with the face and antlers stretching the length of the space. There is no further decoration between the antlers, nor in the spaces between the stag's face and the circular punched border. A complete copper alloy decorated stud, possibly Roman. The head of the stud is broadly circular, with a mostly flat top. In the centre of the top is a slightly raised circle upon which is an incised circular line border 10.31mm in diameter. Within the border is an inscribed eagle, with outspread wings, the tips of which meet the circular line border but do not ingress upon it. An incomplete copper alloy Roman developed T-shaped brooch dating to the period c.AD75 - 150. The pin, lower part of the bow, the foot and the catchplate are missing. The head had cylindrical wings, one of which is now missng to an old break. The remaining wing appears to have an incised line around the outer end. The wings are separated on the reverse by a central pin slot from which the pin is missing. The copper alloy axis bar for the pin is visible in the broken wing. The bow is very shallowly curved with a ridge running for a short distance from the head down the centre. Below …
