An unusually large and decorative medieval silver annular brooch complete with pin and decorated with incised lines, inlaid niello and an inscription. The brooch is circular in cross section and, while weighty, the weight suggests it is hollow. There is a constriction at one point where the pin head is looped and corresponding slight wear on the opposite side of the ring, on the front where the pin point rests. Part of a probably Mesolithic flint blade, probably dating to the period c.9000-4000BC. It is a secondary piece with one small patch of pebble cortex surviving near its proximal end. The artefact is rectangular with a triangular cross section. The dorsal face has two negative blade scars from previous removal. One of the mesal edges have areas of chipping. There is a snap at the proximal end, thus removing the striking platform and bulb of percussion. The flint is a medium grey with areas of mottled white.
