A copper-alloy token halfpenny, dating from the late 17th century. This token, issued by George Barne[....] of St. Giles in the Fields, London, is not listed in the standard reference works and would appear to be a previously unrecorded piece.

A cast lead token of Medieval date.
The circular token is of thin section but survives intact. On one side, executed in low relief, is the image of a hooded figure standing right, the right hand holding a pole with a mesh bag at the upper end. A swag extends diagonally across the body, while the top of his legs - the area below the knee is not visible - are covered with a vertically segmented garment. The left arm bends upwards from the elbow, the hand holding a stylised cup, from which the figure drinks. The other side of the token is occupied by a shield containing a plain chevron…
