A probable flint scraper of probably Bronze Age date or AD 2500 to 800. The scraper is struck off a tertiary flake and retains no cortex. The scraper is sub-rectangular in plan albeit with one slightly curved mesal side. Every edge is heavily chipped and damaged but behind this damage is evidence of semi-parallel abrupt retouch along the majority of their ventral surface while the distal edge demonstrates this semi-abrupt retouch on its dorsal surface also. There is a very prominent bulb of percussion and the flake has removed a large part of a striking platform with it, giving it …

Five Neolithic to Early Bronze Age flint scrapers, probably dating to c. 4000-1,500BC. A flint scraper worked from a secondary or tertiary flake with a small area of white patina on the right distal edge of the dorsal face. The dorsal face has two parallel blade or long flakes scars with short, semi-abrupt scalar retouch along the left edge, becoming long, parallel abrupt at the distal end and short, scalar again at the right proximal edge. The ventral face has a relatively pronounced bulb of percussion at the proximal end with several bulb scars. The scraper is a translucent grey…

A Bronze Age or possibly Neolithic chert horseshoe shaped scraper dating to the period c. 2350-800 BC. It has been struck off a secondary flake, as there is between 25-35% of the cortex remaining on the dorsal face and was semi-circular in shape with some damage to one side which has removed one end of the semi-circle. The ventral face has a single large bulb of percussion, with a large bulbar scar. The dorsal surface has three parallel negative flake scars from previous removals of blade like flakes. The curved distal edge has neat short semi-abrupt parallel retouch at the ends close…

An early Bronze Age flint scraper dating to the period c. 2350-1600 BC. It is semi-circular in shape, with 50% of the dorsal face still covered in the origianl cortext and weathered pebble surface. It has been struck off a secondary flake, as it retains >25% of its cortex. The ventral face, has a single low bulb of percussion with a bulbar scar and widely spaced, conchoidal rippple marks, suggesting that the artefact has been soft hammer struck. The curved edge of the dorsal face has evidence of acute short- parallel retouch running along the entire length. The flint is a translucent …

A Bronze Age retouched flint, probably a scraper dating to the period c. 2350-800 BC. The artefact is struck off a secondary flake, as the dorsal surface retains 25%of its cortex, it is broadly triangular in cross section and ovoid in shape. The bulb of percussion on the ventral face has been almost removed by bulb scarall the edges. All the sides have bad chipping, some later damage but some may be deliberate blunting to make the opposite edges easier to use. The flint is light grey in colour with a series of buff to cream coloured inclusions, and some traces of iron staining fro…

A retouched flake in the form of a side scraper of probable Neolithic date (c. 4000 - 2350 BC). The piece, is broadly retangular in shape, with a slightly convex ventral face, and has been struck off a tertriary flake as no cortex remains. The ventral surface, exhibits a prominent bulbar scar, with a prominent bulb of percussion and closely spaced well defined conchoidal ripple marks but the bulb and striking platform have been removed by retouch. The dorsal surface, has five negative flake scars from previous removals, in two groups, 90 degrees from each other. One of the mesal edges…

A flint end scraper of probable Neolithic date (c. 4000 - 2350 BC). The piece is struck off a tertiary flake / blade as there is no cortex remaining. The genral form is a broad, short, thick blade. The dorsal surface exhibits two negative flake scars from previous removals. There are breaks at the proximal end which appear to have removed the bulb of percussion although part of a strikeing platform remains. There is sub-parallel, semi abrupt retouch running along the distal end, long in the ceetre becoming short at the sides. Indents down both sides appear to be accidental damage rath…

Two flint scrapers. Horseshoe scraper made on a large primary flake. Clear bulb on the ventral face. The dorsal face is covered in cortex, the thickness suggests it is not pebble flint. Short, parallel, semi-abrupt retouch around the semi-circular distal end. Pale grey flint, 15.24 grams. Thick fragment of a core with c. 10% cortex on the dorsal face suggesting it is pebble flint. The bulb has been removed form the ventral face. The left edge and distal end are a semi-circular edge with short, semi-parallel, shallow to semi-abrupt retouch. Dark grey flint with paler mottling, …

Fragment of the proximal end of a scraper on mid to light grey, opaque flint. It is broken towards the tip across the width. There is short scaler retouch along both edges and around the tip. The dorsal face has a hinge fracture in the centre. The shape of the fragment suggests the original scraper was quite large.

A Neolithic to Bronze Age flint scraper. There is a visible striking platform, bulb of percussion and slight scaring to the right of the bulb of percussion on the ventral face. On the dorsal face there is clear evidence of retouch on the distal end and both sides. The retouch is semi-abrupt, with long sub-paralell removals. The flint is mid green in colour and is 32.2 mm in length, 28.8 mm wide and weighs 10.01 grams.

A Neolithic to Bronze Age flint scraper. The scraper is a fragment of a Neolithic polished axe head which has been broken and reused. There are numerous ripples visible on the ventral face, no striking platform or bulb of percussion is visible as the proximal end has a snap and it is probable the break was accidental. On the dorsal face there is clear evidence of retouch on the distal end and both sides. The right hand side of the dorsal face and the proximal end of the left hand side have abrupt, long scalar removals. The distal end of the left edge and the distal end have longer su…

A crudely worked flint scraper of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. Sub-rectangular scraper made of medium grey-brown flint which is mottled. A coarsely worked striking platform is visible, with a bulb of percussion and a bulbar scar on the ventral face. The right side of the ventral face has projections due to the inherent weaknesses within the flint. There is long semi-parallel abrupt retouch on the dorsal face at the distal end. The dorsal face shows evidence of previous flake removals from multiple directions.

An incomplete secondary scraper of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. There is snap at the distal end which has happened after it was worked into a tool. The scraper has a visible bulb of precussion and bulbar scar on the ventral face. The left hand side of the dorsal face has long scalar semi-abrupt removals, this continues round to proximal end becomming shorter towards the right edge. Cortex covers c.45 percent of the dorsal face. The flint is light grey-mid grey in colour.
