Roman cast copper alloy key, dating to c. AD 150 - 410. The key is incomplete with only the openwork trilobate or 'fleur de lys' handle surviving and part of the shank. The trilobate section of the handle is rectangular in cross section with flat bases. The two outer lobes have thin open stems ending in outward curving circular openwork terminals. The central lobe is unusual, it again has a thin open stem, rising between the other two and widening as the curve outwards. At the top of the outer lobes however two pointed ended branches curve inwards and are joined together by a thin…

A Medieval cast copper-alloy bow of a rotary key. The bow is lozenge-shaped with a knop on the top corner. The inner side is stepped in several places giving a slightly cruciform shape. The stem of the key is broken just below the a moulding or collar below the bow. The stem is circular in cross-section and probably drilled. There is incised line decorations over both the bow and collar which have been added by hand, it seems to be simple lines deliniating lozenge shapes although it is too worn to be certain. The collar is 9.3 by 8.2 mm thick. The bow of the key is 27.4 mm at its wide…
