A copper alloy Roman (AD c.300-410) possible buckle plate. Overall, it measures 25.66mm long and 25.17mm wide, and weighs 5.65g. It is formed from a broadly quadrilateral plate with three loops projecting from one of the edges. The piercings of these loops are c.1.5mm in diameter and are aligned with each other parallel to the plate. The plate itself has two open work circles in it which are c.6mm in diameter. A copper-alloy ring, undiagnostic, but plausibly a medieval annular buckle frame, of conventional module (c. 14th century AD). The frame consists of a ring of circular cross-section. There is a thinned and narrowed area at one point, which was perhaps provision for a pin; as no pin survives it is impossible to definitively classify this as a buckle. As there is neither a constriction nor a pin rest the artefact has been recorded (tentatively) as a buckle rather than a brooch (see Egan and Pritchard 1991, 57). A cast copper-alloy rectangular single-looped buckle of medieval to post-medieval date (c. AD 1400-1700). The buckle's rectangular frame has rounded corners on the outer edge. It is square in cross-section with some rounding to the outer edge. Looped in situ is a thick wire pin which has corroded in the same manner as the frame. The buckle's form is not diagnostic hence the large date range offered.

A fragment from a late Roman cast copper-alloy openwork buckle plate. The fragment appears to be the corner of the plate at the frame end. The frame end is defined by a transverse ridge at the on the upper surface, towards one end of which is an integral loop. A cast copper-alloy fragment probably from a post-medieval buckle. It is a rod broken at both ends which are also curved round slightly in the same direction. The lower surface is flat while the upper is decorated with moulded lozenges divided by trios of transverse ridge. The lozenges have the effect of being formed by cutting the corners from triangles. The artefact has corroded to a variable mid-green colour.
