A slightly base silver continental sterling imitation penny of John II of Montcornet, Lord of Herstal, dating to 1312-24, Mayhew (1983: 93), type 236. This is the second coin of its type to be recorded on the PAS database, the other being LVPL-82CEAE. Mayhew (1983: 93) states that 'provenanced examples are ... strangely scarce' but that one was found in the Bootham hoard and another in Tutbury.

Post Medieval silver penny of the Commonwealth dating to AD 1649 to 1660. North (1997:206) no.2729. The coin has a worn piercing from the reverse to the obverse near the edge and probably originally circular, at 1 o'clock ont he obverse and 6 o'clock on the reverse. The top and and bottom edges have been bent forward and back to give an S-shaped profile, common on modified coins of this period. Part of the edge is also missing to an old break.
