Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Somerset
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
An incomplete tertiary retouched flake of Neolithic to early Bronze Age date. The flake has a visible bulb of percussion on the ventral face which has been partially removed by the very large bulbar scar due to a flaw in the flint. There is short scalar abrupt retouch at the proximal end of the left edge and along the remaining part of the right edge of the dorsal face. Towards the centre of the left edge the retouch becomes longer and semi-abrupt. The flint is light-mid grey in colour.

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Cast copper alloy sexfoil stud. It is slightly convex on the front and concave on the back. The petals are defined by indented lines which meet in the centre and the outer edge is cusped. In the centre of the reverse is an iron attachment stud or possibly loop, due to the quantity of corrosion it is not clear how this is attached to the copper alloy head. There is a raised cross formed of thin lines cast on the reverse of one of the petals. The front is heavily gilded. It is 16.7mm in diameter, 5.9mm thick incuding the rivet and weighs 2.57 grams.
It is similar in form to M…

Post Medieval, 17th century, cast copper alloy openwork mount with integral attachment spikes. The mount is flat and shaped into four lobes, two large pointed oval lobes alternating with two smaller circular lobes. The tip of one of the pointed oval lobes is lost, possibly to damage. The lobes have circular holes in the centre and there is a further hole in the centre of the mount; the holes in the pointed oval lobes join the central hole while those in the circular lobes are connected to it by an indent on the front. On the back are two integral spikes, one is complete and bent inwar…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Post Medieval, 17th century, cast copper-alloy circular bridle boss. The boss is a hollow hemisphere, with an openwork design and a flat border around the edge. The less worn arms are decorated with a scale like patten of raised semi-circles running down each arm and incised lines down their inner sides which continue at the base to meet the base of the next arm. Around this is a narrow rop…

Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
Roman cast copper-alloy Colchester derivative Dolphin type brooch with hinged pin dating to c. AD 55-100. The brooch is highly corroded, obscuring some details of the decoration but is also probably mis-cast with a large irregular mass of corroded metal between the bow and one wing.
The brooch has a cylindrical head with open ends to the wings and slightly expanded terminals, a copper alloy spindle for the hinge runs through from end to end. One terminal is broken but both wings appear to be decorated with at least six narrow raised collars the same size as the terminals, arranged a…

Spanish Medieval silver real, or possibly half real, of Ferdinand and Isabella (1469-1504), mint unclear, 1474-1516 AD.
The small part of the design that can be seen (the sheaf of arrows) is more similar to the design on the real, the size suggests a half-real but it is very worn and potentially clipped.
