Cast copper alloy heraldic harness pendant dating from the medieval period, that is 12th-14th century. The pendant is small and complete with only the small suspension loop slightly bent. The pendant is shield-shaped with a plain reverse and a decorated obverse. The obverse shows an enamelled chevron gules with three stars or flowers in the corners (Argent a chevron between three mullets gules). A large buckle which appears to be one half of a double-loop frame. It has a moulded possible trefoil at either end of the narrowed circular-section bar, and a very elaborately decorated outside edge. In the centre of the outside edge is a crown, to be viewed with the edge downwards, in relief and emphasised by six small apertures. Flanking the crown, two recessed fields may once have been inlaid. Scrolled mouldings project from the edge and the sides. It measures 29 x 44mm. Although some lack of symmetry is the result of poor casting rather than damage, this is a most unusual p…

Copper alloy rectangular hinge plate, probably from the hinge of the door or cover of a lantern aperture, a thick evenly folded sheet with two hinge loops, one flush with one edge and the other nearer the centre. Three disc-headed rivets (one missing) with, between them, two trefoil cut-outs on the attachment edge. The cut-outs are grooved, in the manner of strap-ends (e.g. Egan and Pritchard 1991, nos. 671-5) on the reverse which is also decorated along both sides and edges with engraved rocker-arm. Both faces were clearly intended to be seen. There are traces of gilding on one rivet…
