A Medieval copper-alloy sexfoil mount with a separate rivet (c. 1400-c. 1450). This domed mount is made of sheet copper-alloy and is concave on the underside. The front has six evenly spaced 'teardrop' facets. Close to the edge are two rivet holes which are opposite each other. One contains a copper-alloy rivet with a copper-alloy rove. At the front there is an outer border of evenly spaced stamped triangular motifs. There is an inner border of sixteen evenly spaced stamped ring-and-dot motifs. This seal matrix is circular in plan with an unpierced suspension lug at the top which measures 7.0mm high, 5.6mm wide and 6.4mm thick. Within an inner circle, a central motif of a flower with six petals (or a star) is surrounded by an inscription. The inscription follows the initial mark, a plain cross, at 12 o' clock and reads: S' ROB'tI FIL' ROB'tI [D]E SECI' (Robert, son of Robert of ?Senci?). The wavy edged plate is leaf-like or insect-like in form with ridges on the front that possibly represent veins. The reverse is plain. This pendant is drab green. A complete Medieval copper-alloy book mount of Howsam type B.1.2 (c. 1150-c. 1300). This umbonate quatrefoil mount is domed at the front and largely concave on the reverse. It has four evenly spaced lugs situated at the base. Each lug has a circular rivet hole and one rivet, made of copper-alloy, remains in situ.
