29 silver denarii and 3 bronze coins were found in the parish of Cadeby, Leicestershire. The coins were found in an area which has many known Roman features including a road and settlement. Possibly a plated copy of a Roman Republican denarius by the moneyer Brutus (M Iunius Brutus). Mint of Rome, 54 BC RRC (Crawford) 433/1 There are two small perforations - possible evidence for re-use as a pendant? The perforations were made just below the feet of the lictors and Brutus and might indicate that it was worn on a neclace in such a fashion that the wearer could see the reverse coin the right way around (looking down) but not the onlooker standing in front of the wearer.

Three coins, probably all nummi of the House of Constantine, which are stuck together. The obverse of one of the coins (a Constantinopolis type of 330-335) is visible but the other coin with one face visible is too worn and encrusted to identify. The way they are stuck together suggests that they had been neatly stacked and presumably buried in rolls (pers comm. Ian Leins).

Republican denarius struck by the moneyer L. Aemilius Lepidus Paullus in Rome in 64 BC. The obverse has been countermarked with 3 symbols arranged in a triangle. These symbols are struck over the veiled head of Concordia. The symbols are arranged unevenly and seem likely to be an S above a D and cross or X. On the reverse there is also a possible countermark in the upper left hand quarter. This mark is deeply punched and seems to be an elongated irregular cross (X) or possibly a throne?

Contemporary Copy / forgery of a Nummus dating to period 348-402 AD. The edges of the coin have been abraded and the majority of the surface of the coin has been lost due to lamination and corrosion. The prototype (original coin) was struck AD 348-350 however these were widely copied and so can be loosely dated to AD 348 to circa 402

Cast copper alloy Roman object. The object is rectangular in plan and section and measures 33.1mm long, 19.22mm wide, 4.98mm thick and weighs 20.64g. The original surface survives in good condition with a dark green-grey patina, suggesting that the object may be highly leaded. There is some abrasion and tiny patches of exposed surface show as mid green. The object is engraved on one face, to one end, with a pair of clasped hands set within a circular border of dots. At the opposite end on the same face, is an engraved portrait of a Roman emperor, probably Julian (AD 355-363), diademed…
