A ceramic vessel sherd of probable medieval date. The sherd is grog and calcite grit tempered with fine 20 per cent inclusions. It has a black core, an orange exterior and a grey interior. It measures 37.99 mm long, 31.59 mm wide, 8.99 mm thick and weighs 13.4 grams. Quite possibly from a flat bottomed cooking pot.

A cast-copper leg from a ewer (water jug), of Medieval date (1300-1500). It measures 66.16x13.24x17.40mm and weighs 64.69g. The leg is one of three that would have been integral with the base of the vessel. The inside face of the leg is flat and the outside face is faceted to form a pentagonal cross-section. The front of the leg is flattened along its central arise. Immediately above the foot there is a prominent horizontal ridge. An almost complete Neolithic (3500-2100 BC) greenstone axehead, measuring 87.82x65.78x32.81mm and weighing 295.46g. There is some (worn) damage at the butt end and on one face (the flatter face). The surface is now rough and pitted due to weathering, but would have originally been polished smooth. The axehead is sub-triangular in shape and lenticular in cross section. An incomplete cast lead alloy seal matrix, of Medieval dating (1200 to 1400 AD). The matrix fragment is sub rectangular in plan, and rectangular in cross section. Approximately a quarter of the device survives, and consists of several letters of the inscription running clockwise around the edge of the device, surrounding the central design. The surviving part of the design consists of a lower curled petal, probably the lower leaf of a fleur de lys / lis. It is possible to read the letter D as part of the inscription. Late Bronze Age socketed axe head, a variant of the Taunton-Hademarschen type with oval rather than square mouth. The axe is relatively long and narrow compared to more common forms of socketed axe. the surface is badly corroded with the original surface only surviving in a few areas. The mouth of the socket is oval and adjacent to the mouth is a shallow rounded moulding 16.2mm wide reinforcing this end. A fragment of a decorated copper alloy, probably from a postmedieval shoe buckle of rectangular or trapezoidal form. The mount has two faceted, pyramidal terminals, presumably for glass 'gem' settings. In the field between them there is a sigmoidal (S-shaped) string of short transverse lines, with quatrefoils at each terminal. Such ornament is typical of the 18th century.

Cast cu-alloy 'screw' with heart-shaped handle, probably dating to the late medieval or early post-medieval period, i.e. AD1500-1700. The heart-shaped handle is made up of two bent 'halves' which may have been bent slightly out of shape subsequently. The 'screw' part displayed a very basic, rounded thread which suggest an earlier date (Geoff Egan, pers. comm.). The screw would have been too weak to hold something heavy in place and is best seen perhaps as a part of an early 'sewing vice' which could be clamped to a table to facilitate sewing, stitching and mending of fabric. An incomplete copper alloy "kräftig-profilierte" or 'strongly profiled' brooch dating from the earlier Roman period (AD 43-AD 100). The brooch survives in good shape with only the pin and part of the spring missing. The other components are in very good condition, with a smooth patina. The brooch can be classified as a "kräftig-profilierte" type. It has short wings that are slightly concave at rear in order to form a seating for a bilateral spring of which about half is missing. Gold Gallic contemporary copy of a Solidus of Anastasius (491-518), possibly of the Pseudo-Merovingian coinage, c. 500-580. Copied from a coin of Constantinople. Found with associated Early Medieval finds from a ploughed cemetery site (Treasure case no. 2007 T203). Note: the BM has 7 imitations of solidi of Anastasius, but none are very similar to this piece.
