An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy shoe buckle frame (c. 1720-c. 1790). This openwork frame is moulded at the front and flat at the rear. A fragment of a decorated copper alloy, probably from a postmedieval shoe buckle of rectangular or trapezoidal form. The mount has two faceted, pyramidal terminals, presumably for glass 'gem' settings. In the field between them there is a sigmoidal (S-shaped) string of short transverse lines, with quatrefoils at each terminal. Such ornament is typical of the 18th century.
