A fragment of Early Post-Medieval (1500-1700) copper alloy book-clasp, consisting of the clasp or hook end only. The fragment is now rather bent and measures 25.46x26.79x3.42mm and weighs 3.2g.
The sheet copper alloy is 0.78mm thick and parallel-sided, with punched decoration. The clasp consists of a bent projection (U-shaped in profile) 14.63mm wide. The opposite edge has a jagged break, with a centrally-placed rivet hole 1.62mm in diameter just behind it. Around this is a circular incision, c.7mm in diameter.
