An incomplete and corroded Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy strap-end (c. 700-c. 900). This strap-end is sub-oval in plan, narrower at the terminal end. At the attachment end there are two rivet holes, one is incomplete and the other has the remains of a copper-alloy rivet. The terminal was probably zoomorphic in form. A complete possible spindle whorl of Unknown date (c. AD 43-c. 1800). The undecorated spindle whorl is sub-conical (domed) in form. The top is slightly flattened causing spreading of the metal and a reduction in hole size to about 6.0mm. It has a central vertical hole which has a diameter of about 7.5mm at the bottom. A small nick at the side has a raised a bump. This spindle whorl is smooth, off white and buff in places. Height: 10.5mm; maximum width: 20.3mm. Weight: 19.65g.

The openings are sub-circular as well as elongated sub-rectangular. A complete medieval cast copper-alloy and enamelled heraldic harness stud (c. 1307-1324). The front face of the pendant carries an enamelled heraldic device comprising four transverse bands in blue enamel, with five red birds or martlets fairly evenly spaced around the plate, the silvering in between now missing due to post-depositional corrosion. However, a small fleck of decayed silver survives. At the rear, an integral tapering spike is sub-square in cross-section and its tip is bent at an angle of 90°. A collection of six Vectis Ware pottery body sherds (AD 43-409). Tomalin 1987: 30-40. Overall weight: 43.02g. Vectis ware is hand-made, well finished and relatively hard, being barely scratched with the fingernail. Its internal and external surface is partly reddish-yellow (Munsell Color 5YR 6/6), which is the colour yielded by a characteristic oxidised crust which is usually weakly visible due to a more general darkening of the final surface burnishing. A Roman ceramic rim fragment from a Vectis Ware vessel of unclassified form, c. AD 43-c. 375. Tomalin 1987: 30-40. The rim sherd of this vessel is dark grey and orange. It has a greyish orange core. The breaks appear to be fresh. When complete, the outer diameter of the rim would have been about 22cm. Height: 33.0mm; length: 54.8mm; width: 38.4mm; thickness at rim: 8.2mm. Weight: 28.01g. An incomplete Iron Age to Roman cast copper-alloy rosette/thistle brooch (AD 25-60). This brooch has tubular open-ended wings which are not fully enclosed due to a horizontal slot at the rear. The ends of the wings are incomplete as they are broken and there is an off-centre vertical pin slot at the rear. The wings have a maximum diameter of 8.3mm. Within the wings are the remains of an iron spring and pin loop. On the wings, just above the top of the bow, are two sets of oblique decorative grooves. An incomplete Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) cast copper-alloy possible buckle (c. 800-c. 900 AD). This object is moulded at the front and flat at the rear. It consists of an elongated knop and part of the frame. On the upper face of the knop there is a circular cell with a central pit. The frame is semi-circular in plan and has a raised rim on the inside of the upper face. It is corroded overall and the breaks are old. 25.01 x 15.58 x 4.39mm. Weight: 2.58g. One terminal of a pair of post-Medieval tongs (c. 1600-c. 1700 AD). These tongs were used by tobacco pipe smokers to pick up burning embers to ignite the tobacco. The terminal is in the form of flat stylised human hand. It has traces of a dark green patina and the break is old. 32.8 x 8.7 x 3.9mm. Weight: 2.04g. A fragment of a Neolthic flint axehead (3500 BC-2100 BC). The fragment is the butt end of the axehead. It is sub-rectangular in plan, sub-triangular in side view and pointed oval in cross-section. Both faces have been knapped overall. The arises are not sharp. No polish visible. One face has a light buff patina and the other face has a variable patina ranging from pale buff to reddish brown. The break is old and is also patinated in similar colors to the faces. 60.6 x 41.2 x 20.9mm. Weight: 56.94g.

The weight is square and one side bears a crowned shield containing a sun with eight rays at the centre of the shield. The surface is reddish brown with powdery green copper-alloy corrosion products. 14.1 x 13.6 x 1.9mm. Weight: 2.73g. This is an English weight for a French ecu (or half ecu) au soleil, which was issued between 1475-1654 (see Withers 1995: 39 and 70).
