It can be identified as the earliest class because of the distinctive zigzag pattern with dots in the exergue. The obverse has very faint traces of the wreath design which is found on Gallo-Belgic C, the predecessor to this type and which is actually die-linked into the earliest classes of G-B E. The bulbous appearance of the obverse occurs on a number of these staters.
It seems to be almost uniformly accepted now that these coins date from the Gallic War, and specifically 57 BC.
