A complete orange patinated flint “pick” or “adze” of Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date (6500 BC – 2900 BC). Length 151.0mm, maximum width 52.5mm and maximum thickness 39.0mm. Weight 332.0g. The implement has three faces and is generally sub-triangular in cross-section. In plan, it has an oblique butt and a pointed cutting edge. When viewed from the side it has a “hump-backed” profile. A complete flint pick of Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date (c. 6500 BC – c. 2900 BC). Length 191.0mm, maximum width 61.0mm and maximum thickness 46.0mm. Weight 666g. The flaked pick has probably been made from an elongated pebble. In plan, from the centre, it generally narrows towards the butt and widens towards the cutting edge. A complete Mesolithic flint 'Thames pick' tranchet axehead or adze (c. 9000 BC-c. 4000 BC). This implement has been made on an elongated flint nodule which has been flaked overall, except for a small area at the butt end where the cortex remains. This implement is sub-rectangular in plan and side view, sub-square in cross-section. Mid-way along its length, two of the four faces are 'waisted'. The sharp cutting edge is formed by oblique removal of two 'tranchet' flakes. A small portion at the butt end has been battered indicating that the implement may also have been used as a hamme…
