An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy shoe buckle frame (c. 1720-c. 1790). This openwork frame is moulded at the front and flat at the rear. The openings are sub-circular as well as elongated sub-rectangular. At the centre of the surviving outside edge there is a rosette motif which is flanked by grooves in low relief (It can be assumed that there would have been a similar motif on the missing outside edge). It was used to weigh against the 4 escudos, a Portuguese coin otherwise known as the Johannes or "Joe" in England. The value was equal to that of thirty six shillings, with a weight of 14.32g. (Withers and Withers 2011: 66). However, this coin weight weighs 12.97g. The weight is marked on both faces: "S / 36". Diameter: 23.3mm. Weight: 12.97g. An incomplete post-Medieval to Modern lead alloy toy gun (c. 1850-c. 1920). The hollow object is sub-triangular in plan and pointed oval in cross-section. Both sides have similar decoration. The fore-stock is decorated with impressed cross-hatching. The shoulder stock has raised floral decoration which is formed of lines of pellets and "rosettes". There is a plain seam above and below. This toy is dark grey with some off-white deposits. Length: 32.0mm; width: 15.4mm; thickness: 8.6mm. Weight: 10.23g (the weight includes a small portion of debris within).

An incomplete post-Medieval copper-alloy dress-hook (c. 1500-c. 1700). Read Class E, Type 8. The attachment loop and most of the rearward hook are missing. This dress-hook has a sub-circular plate. The plate has moulded decoration at the front resembling an escallop shell with scrolls above. A stub of the hook survives. The rear face is plain. One terminal of a pair of post-Medieval tongs (c. 1600-c. 1700 AD). These tongs were used by tobacco pipe smokers to pick up burning embers to ignite the tobacco. The terminal is in the form of flat stylised human hand. It has traces of a dark green patina and the break is old. 32.8 x 8.7 x 3.9mm. Weight: 2.04g. The weight is square and one side bears a crowned shield containing a sun with eight rays at the centre of the shield. The surface is reddish brown with powdery green copper-alloy corrosion products. 14.1 x 13.6 x 1.9mm. Weight: 2.73g. This is an English weight for a French ecu (or half ecu) au soleil, which was issued between 1475-1654 (see Withers 1995: 39 and 70).
