An unidentified lead alloy artefact of probable medieval or post medieval date. This artefact is either the remnants of a composite pommel from a sword / dagger or a variant style of weight. From the shape and weight of the iron bar (which is similar to those seen on whittle tanged knives) and the uniform nature of the lead alloy element I would prefer the former. The artefact is composite consisting of a lead alloy flattened sphere through which passes an iron square sectioned bar.
