Record ID: BH-476663
Object type: LITHIC IMPLEMENT
Broad period: MESOLITHIC
County: Hertfordshire
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A flint tertiary blade of probable Late Mesolithic to Early Neolithic date.
The sub-rectangular blade is incomplete, having been broken at the distal end and also missing its original bulb-of-percussion, although ripples on the ventral surface testify to the striking process. The piece is of triangular section and the long edges show definite evidence of utilisation damage. The flint is a translucent grey colour and displays little patination. A small area of cortex remains at the proximal end.
Dimensions: 40.7mm long, 17.6mm wide, 6mm thick. Weight: 4.72g.

The flint is a translucent brownish-grey with little patination.
