An incomplete Medieval (1250-1300) copper alloy pointed-oval seal matrix with a pierced lug to the reverse. It measures 29.47mm in length, 18.17mm in max.width, 10.04mm in max.depth and weighs 8.37g. The matrix depicts a four-legged animal, probably a dog, running left (right in the impression) and arranged on the vertical axis of the matrix. The animal has open jaws, one pointed ear and a bulbous eye. A Medieval (1200-1500) lead circular seal matrix, depicting a central fleur-de-lis with elongated central stem, around which is the inscription + S'WILLI SV[.]HAMCOC To the reverse, behind the start of the legend, is a pierced triangular lug (the piercing is oval and c.3x2mm). Extending below this and to either side are traces of a raised, moulded design - two loops each with an arc inside and below two curlicues, curling inwards. Copper-alloy seal matrix with tall faceted conical handle. The die is circular, 22mm in diameter, and the handle ends in a trefoil perforation below a small upper circular perforation. Both the central motif and the inscription are easily legible. The central motif is a shield, which has been divided into four with a double cross. In the top right and bottom left quarters of the shield there is a crescent moon shape, whilst the top left and bottom right have a star shape. Complete cast copper alloy seal matrix of the love and loyalty type. Medieval, fourteenth century (Harvey and McGuinness 1996 p 90). Length 23mm, diameter of the die 18mm. Hexagonally conical handle rising to a collar and a flattened, lozenge-shaped pierced terminal. Viewing an impression made by the die the design is in the form of a pelleted circle within which is a male and female head facing each other (the female is on the left).
