A copper alloy mount from a medieval laver. The mount is in the form of a dog's head and neck. The head resembles 14th/15th century spouts which sometimes show a dog's head at the front. Although quite corroded, one can still see the snout, eyes and ears of the dog. On the back it has a deep circular hollow which was for the attachment of a handle, and the break at the neck is where the head would have been soldered to the side of the vessel. A copper-alloy zoomorphic object with an iron core. The object consists of a curved shaft made of copper alloy, and a zoomorphic head at one end. The head has an outward facing “face” with a pointed chin, two horizontal grooves across the middle, slanted rectangular eyes which are holes and pointed ears (of which one is broken). Back to back with this face is another which is much more functional. Cast cu-alloy complete mace head (ecclesiastical staff fitting) dating from the 12th-14th century AD. The item is a complete knopped mace head with both shank and head intact. The mace is square in cross-section and it has a central hole. The shank is tubular in shape with two opposing rivet holes at the lower end. These would have held the rivet(s) for attaching the mace head to a staff.The head shows has six pyramidal knobs in rows, whole knops decorate the central band, with half knops on the top and bottom filling in the gaps. A copper alloy buckle plate dating to the thirteenth century. In plan the buckle plate is in the shape of a bird or the letter 'M'. The wings and back of the bird have marginal rouletted decoration following the shape of the plate . Three pairs of horizontal rouletted decoration transverse the rectangular panel situated above the tail. Three triangular notches mark the slightly flared tail.
