An incomplete silver 'knotenfibula' dating to the late Iron Age. The pin and spring of the brooch are missing and the catch plate is also broken and missing. The bow has a diamond shaped cross section. At its highest point, close to the end of the brooch where the spring was originally, there is a circular boss between two ring mouldings. This boss is the defining feature for these types of brooches. The original catch plate, which held the pin in place when worn was decorated with two large perforations to produce a delicate decorative shape. The piece of brooch recovered is 87.9 mm

Copper alloy mount. Cast openwork mount, probably with a zoomorphic design. The flat backed plate bears four integrally cast fixing pins on its back: each pin rose from a rectangular base of about 5mm square with a tapered shank of rectangular section up to 11mm long - one complete pin remains, albeit bent back. The pins are set either side of the back of the central motif, where the mount achieves its greatest height or width. The stout integral pins may suggest this object was attached to thick leather. The design presents an uncertain subject: the centrepiece might be seen as …

On the back it has a deep circular hollow which was for the attachment of a handle, and the break at the neck is where the head would have been soldered to the side of the vessel. A post medieval Venetian coin; a soldino of Agostino Barbarigo (1486-1501) made of an unusual alloy of gold and silver which appears golden coloured instead of the usual silver. This design was used by Barbarigo before he changed over to the new (and much more common) soldino design. However, the style overall is bad, especially the lettering and the mint mark of N over M to the right of the doge is not listed in the detailed catalogue (Barrie Cook pers comm.) This, and the unusual metal suggests that it is some form of contemporary copy or an unknown variety. The coin is discoloured …
