Copper alloy mount. Cast openwork mount, probably with a zoomorphic design. The flat backed plate bears four integrally cast fixing pins on its back: each pin rose from a rectangular base of about 5mm square with a tapered shank of rectangular section up to 11mm long - one complete pin remains, albeit bent back. The pins are set either side of the back of the central motif, where the mount achieves its greatest height or width. The stout integral pins may suggest this object was attached to thick leather.
