An incomplete iron bell of Post-Medieval date, c.AD 1700 - 1900. The bell is quadrangular with sloping sides to a narrow rounded top. An applied ovate sectioned looped handle is present set transversely along the top. The wide circular opening to the base of the bell is broken and worn. A smaller separate loop is present to the top of the bell inside from which the clapper would have been suspended. The metal has a dark orange/brown patina and is heavily corroded. The bell is 128.4mm tall. The base is 82.1mm x 84.5mm x 5.1mm. The handle is 51.3mm x 11.9mm x 8.2mm. It weighs 319g. …

The fragment consists of the lower bow section with zoomorphic decoration in the form of bulbous eye protrusions and spatulate extensions on either side of the bow. The fragment terminates at both ends in old breaks after the lower section of the bow and before the footplate. A corpus of Anglo-Saxon material from Suffolk, pg 309, no 2.
