Treasure Number: 2006 T447. Post Medieval gold mourning ring dated to 1674. The band is simple, with a small engraving of a skull on the exterior. The interior is inscribed in lower case script: 'E : Kinsman obijt 28 Maij 74. o. y. en', with maker's mark GW in a rectangular shield. The outer surface has moulded decoration radiating out from the apex. This fragment is possibly part of a bell, however due to the current condition it is difficult to assertain its original function. As an object of uncertain date and function it does not fall within the Treasure Act 1996.

Gold finger ring Date: probably 17th Century Description: A gold finger ring, which has been bent and distorted out of shape. The hoop has a circular section, which widens towards the shoulders. The upper surfaces of the shoulders are decorated with an incised cross-hatched design inside a linear border. The bezel has a wide U-shaped with turned up lips on either side. In the centre of this there is a double claw, which would have held a stone or gem. This is now missing. The claws each have a collar around them. The cross-hatched decoration suggests a date in the 17th Century.

Gold puzzle ring in the form of two linked rings, now distorted, of square section, each with a twist at one point where there are also signs of wear. This is almost certainly a puzzle ring, usually formed of multiple hoops, secured with a central twist, often forming the bezel. A puzzle ring with only two hoops is unusual, but given the damage is is possible that the ring is not complete. Original internal diameter of each ring c. 20mm. Section 1 x 1mm. Such rings were made from the 17th century to the 19th century and in the absence of any marks or other distinguishing features…
