Post-medieval gold finger ring consisting of an undecorated D-sectioned hoop without a bezel. On the flat inner face a stamped maker's mark JF. 18th century. Dimensions: External diameter 20.5mm. Internal diameter 19.5mm. Width 2mm. Weight 1.68g. The maker's mark is not identifiable with those published in the standard sources, but the closest comparisons suggest a date after 1713. The ring probably dates to later than 1713 and as such falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996.

Post-medieval gold finger ring. The hollow hoop, formed from folded sheet, is slightly distorted. An opaque pale blue gemstone en cabochon, perhaps a turquoise, is held within an oval collet by eight small rounded claws projecting from a separate oval rim. The shoulders, the lower ends of which are defined by a chevron of punched dots, are decorated with very finely engraved cross hatching and applied flowers consisting of a sexfoil on a curving stem flanked by two leaves with engraved details. The petals of the flowers are a pinker shade of gold than the rest of the ring. Early 19…

Incomplete silver finger ring. Flat sectioned hoop expanding towards slightly widened rectangular bezel which continues to curve smoothly in line with the rest of the hoop. Remains of engraved radiating lines in the centre of the bezel, with a cluster of tiny dots at either end before the hoop narrows again. The decoration is very worn. Hoop broken opposite bezel. External diameter c.23mm, internal diameter 20mm. Width of bezel 8mm. The ring has no parallels in the BM collections, and is unlikely to be earlier than the 19th century, or more probably 20th century. It does not ther…

Gold puzzle ring in the form of two linked rings, now distorted, of square section, each with a twist at one point where there are also signs of wear. This is almost certainly a puzzle ring, usually formed of multiple hoops, secured with a central twist, often forming the bezel. A puzzle ring with only two hoops is unusual, but given the damage is is possible that the ring is not complete. Original internal diameter of each ring c. 20mm. Section 1 x 1mm. Such rings were made from the 17th century to the 19th century and in the absence of any marks or other distinguishing features…

Gold posy ring, inscribed 'remember mee'. There are traces of black enamel left in the inscription. It is a very charming piece being so small in size, but as it is otherwise plain and bears no assay marks, it is very difficult to date with any accuracy. There is certainly no evidence to date it pre-1700, and it is most likely to be 18th century. It does not therefore fall within the Treasure remit.
